General Manager

As GM you have just one job: To understand your customer perfectly.
Spreadsheets, SOPs, reports - all of this is meaningless if you don’t know the people who will walk through your doors.
Too often hospitality leaders sit hidden away in their offices and make a lot of assumptions about what their guests want.
To us, senior leaders belong on the floor, connecting with guests, having meaningful discussions, engaging with different teams, and trying the services for themselves.
If you're a GM, you've got to: Be aware of people’s moods. Observe what and how they order. Understand the reasons guests chose your business. Be open to feedback - both good and bad - and use it to propel your organisation forward.

Close your laptop.
Spark a conversation with a customer.
And be open to taking on feedback.
When you focus on your customer experience, and you excel,
That’ll translate to customer loyalty and revenue growth, every time.

Is this you?

£100k+ Package - New opening

Aspiring 5* Property - Rural Scotland

The Rewards:

Our client is offering an outstanding £100k+ package for the right appointment made up of a highly attractive basic + bonus and multiple senior management company benefits.

The Place:

Xpress is delighted to be working with this American-owned property, based in the luscious scenery of Scotland. After several months of renovation and refurbishment, we are now looking to recruit a new General Manager to head up and run this aspiring 5* property. Our client would see this as a great opportunity for a current 5* GM, or even a first-time GM appointment that would ideally suit someone who is currently a DGM or a Head of Operations now looking to get that step up and take on board a stunning property that has a massive vision and is set within the beautiful Scottish countryside.

The Job:

As General Manager, you will be taking responsibility and overseeing the operational running of this exquisite property, focussing on all operations which boast newly opened eateries, which offer first-class dining experiences, multiple bedrooms as well as luxury suites amongst the accommodation side of operations. You’ll direct training, develop and trigger motivation within your management team; delivering and maintaining standards to ensure the guest’s needs are not only met but exceeded. Working closely with the Group Operations Director in further developing this Property and other business streams.

The Person:

You must have at least 4*Hotel experience with the Golf Tourism sector as part of  your past business mix, a good strong understanding of F&B or have gained quality restaurant training and background preferably within a premium fine dining establishment as part of your career to date. The role would ideally suit a current GM, or an experienced Hotel Manager looking to take that next step up into general management or even a Director of F&B/Director of Operations with a good understanding of food and liquor control within a quality environment. Skilled in succession management and team development are essential, as is excellent presentation and FOH skills which are also crucial. However, someone with bedroom experience looking to gain more overall experience in Hospitality Management will also be considered. We see our next General Manager to be the one who delivers the luxury touches and has a fine eye for detail, who will be creating cultures not just delivering the norm.
