How to find Revenue Jobs online

The IT revolution has hit all areas of business over the last 10+ years. It has changed the way we communicate, it has changed the way we socialise and it has totally changed the way we look for jobs. Gone are the days when you would wait for the jobs paper to be published on a Friday and then spend the weekend writing letters to post the following week.
Nowadays your next role is no more than a click away. You can load your CV up to the site and when you see a role just click a button and your application is sent. While this reliance with technology has improved the speed of response, has it actually made it easier to find an excellent revenue role?
In my mind there are pluses and minuses to this. On the plus side it is great that you can now get an application through in a matter of seconds and you can apply to a range of jobs that take you’re interested. The negatives for me that is almost too easy. As recruiters we are now finding the volume of CV’s increasing markedly with allot of applications that just don’t fit the job specification.
In my mind, the best way to secure a revenue role on line is to combine the best parts of the old process with the best parts of the new process. I don’t think there is any substitute to a phone call. It’s essential to follow up on your application with a call to speak to the hiring managers and make your application more than just an e-mail. It also essential that you don’t fall into the trap of being lazy. By this I mean make sure you still tailor the application, write a covering letter etc for each application and don’t just send the same one each time.
There is no doubt on-line is the way to go but don’t forget to follow up and also don’t forget the value of networking, working with a professional and informed recruiter and using sites like LinkedIn etc.
